Seattle Milk Fund Receives a $10,000 Grant from Bill and Melinda Gates

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Milk Fund today announced a $10,000 grant from Bill and Melinda Gates to help support Seattle Milk Fund's educational aid and childcare programs.

Established in 1907, the Seattle Milk Fund's mission is to offer a strong program of child support, with emphasis on quality childcare, to families in the Seattle area. Their commitment to the community is fulfilled through volunteers who raise funds and personally serve qualified families.

"Grants and donations, such as this generous gift from Bill and Melinda Gates, have added to our financial strength, and more importantly our ability to renew our focus on childcare programs," said Pat Wilson, vice-president/communications. "The dedication of time, energy, and funds given by all is evidence that the philanthropic and volunteer spirit is alive and well at the Seattle Milk Fund."

The Seattle Milk Fund supports more than 200 families per year with grants for tuition, books and childcare; vouchers for food, dairy products and shoes; and holiday baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
