Johannesburg, South Africa

Our Johannesburg office is the regional headquarters for the Gates Foundation in Africa. We are committed to working with governments, academia, the private sector, and civil society to help advance progress across the continent and share the ideas and technologies developed in Africa throughout the world. We support a range of programs from the international to the local level that emphasize health and nutrition; disease prevention, treatment, and research; water, sanitation, and hygiene; agriculture; financial services for the poor; and policy and advocacy.

Our work in Africa

The Africa team seeks to enable the foundation’s goals of working closely with various partners on the continent to tackle a range of disease and socio-economic conditions which are endemic across sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). We work closely with government and other stakeholders at the country level to deploy innovative interventions and delivery models. We also engage with global, continental and regional partners to build the requisite architecture for the replication of successful models across multiple countries.
