Gian Gandhi leads a team that works to expand access to vaccines by fostering healthy markets and strengthening supply chains.

Before joining the foundation in 2023, Gian enjoyed a 25-year career spanning the nonprofit and private sectors, including at UNICEF; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), GSK, and Lilly. His roles included leading UNICEF’s Centre for Health Emergencies Strategy & Partnerships team and Market Shaping and Supplier Financing team (2015–2023), serving as special adviser to the vice chair of the Gavi board (2011–2014); leading policy and market shaping efforts for the Gavi Secretariat (2008–2010); and managing policy research and analysis at IAVI (2005–2008).

Gian started his career in the pharmaceutical industry working as a health economist and market access manager, focusing on pricing and access strategies for a range of product portfolios including vaccines, antiretrovirals, antimalarials, and respiratory medicines (1999–2005).

Gian has a B.A. in economics from the University of Nottingham and an M.Sc. in health economics from the University of York.
