Bill and Melinda Gates Welcome the Audience to the Impatient Optimists Speech
Bill and Melinda Gates tell a few jokes to break the ice, and then get serious about the reason they are at the theater: to thank government programs for the work they’re doing in improving global health. They explain why they are impatient optimists, talk about the good news they’ve seen in global health, and officially launch the Living Proof Project.
This chapter is an excerpt from a presentation at Sidney Harman Hall in Washington, D.C., Bill and Melinda Gates explained why they are Impatient Optimists. They encouraged their audience to share the proof and become Impatient Optimists as well.
“LIVING PROOF: Why we are Impatient Optimists” is a story about success. Millions of lives have been saved, improved and empowered because of the investments in global health made by the United States and its partners around the world.
