SEATTLE -- The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded $1 million grants to three organizations—CARE, Save the Children, and World Vision—working to address the most pressing needs resulting from Cyclone Nargis. Each organization has extensive experience in Myanmar and strong teams already on the ground. The funding will be used to meet the immediate food, water, shelter, sanitation, and health needs of hundreds of thousands of people who were affected by the cyclone. It will also support reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts.
