Georgetown Receives Grant For Disaster Relief Capacity Building – Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

The Institute for the Study of International Migration (ISIM) at Georgetown University has received a $291,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to fund its new Disaster Responses: Capacity Building for Developing Country Institutions project. The project will examine current local efforts for managing disaster relief in Africa, Latin America and South Asia. It will include regional workshops that will bring together experts from governments, local nongovernmental and international organizations and academic institutions. A report with recommendations on how to improve disaster relief efforts will be written after the workshops are completed.
