Dress For Success Seattle Receives Grant for General Operating Support from Bill and Melinda Gates

SEATTLE -- Dress for Success Seattle (DSS) received a $40,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to help with the day-to-day costs involved in running a nonprofit organization, Tina Noble, executive director of DSS, announced today.

Dress for Success Seattle, a nonprofit organization that provides interview appropriate clothing and wardrobe consultation to low-income women seeking employment, receives a large number of in-kind clothing donations from community members, but has a great need for cash to help pay general operating costs, such as rent, utilities and salaries.

"We find that when people donate cash their gifts are most often earmarked for special projects," Noble said. "This gift from Bill and Melinda Gates is a generous donation that will not only help with our operating costs, but we will also help bring awareness to the need nonprofits have for assistance with their general operating budget."

Founded in 1996, DSS is one of 48 Dress for Success offices currently in operation around the world. Dress for Success® Seattle's mission is direct, immediate and simple: every suit that is donated to Dress for Success Seattle is given away to a woman who is on the road to independence.
