Janet Zhou leads the foundation’s efforts to advance gender equality through data, insights and digital connectivity, and advises teams in the Global Health and Gender Equality divisions on strategy. Since joining the foundation in 2013, Janet has held leadership roles spanning women’s health, child health and infectious diseases. Janet developed strategies for Family Planning, Malaria, and Maternal, Newborn, Child Nutrition & Health, as well as cross-team work on antimicrobial resistance, disease surveillance and performance management. Previously, Janet worked at Boston Consulting Group, MIT and REDF. Janet holds a B.S. in management science from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Patrick Methvin leads the foundation’s work to make education a stronger pathway to good jobs and upward mobility for more Americans. Since joining the foundation in 2013, Patrick has worked across K-12, pathways and postsecondary education. Patrick's work has included helping institutions redesign how they serve students, advancing new solutions and technologies, and strengthening policy, communications and data infrastructure. Previously, Patrick was a principal at Boston Consulting Group. Patrick holds an MBA from the Wharton School, a master’s in educational leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. in economics and political science from the University of North Carolina.

Based in the foundation’s Kenya office, Benjamin Piper leads efforts to improve foundational literacy and numeracy in low- and middle-income countries. Before joining the foundation, Benjamin was senior director for Africa education at RTI International and supported large-scale projects across sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Benjamin previously led Kenya’s national literacy program Tusome, the PRIMR trials and Kenya’s National Tablets Programme, and served as principal investigator for Learning at Scale and Science of Teaching. Benjamin holds a doctorate in international education and a master’s in international education policy from Harvard, plus a master’s in school leadership from Furman University.

Stewart Collis focuses on digital farmer services, smart farming and digital agricultural ecosystems in low- and middle-income countries across Africa and South Asia. Stewart has more than 25 years of experience in agricultural information technology and was co-founder and CTO of aWhere, which provided agricultural weather content, modeling and analytics to public- and private-sector partners. Earlier, Stewart worked on climate-driven crop simulation modeling and agricultural data tools at Texas A&M University and the International Center for Research in Agroforestry. Stewart holds a Master of Engineering Science in geomatic engineering from the University of New South Wales.

Sanjay Jain leads the foundation’s work to help low- and middle-income countries adopt safe and inclusive digital public infrastructure. Before joining the foundation in 2024, Sanjay was a partner at Bharat Innovation Fund and led inclusion efforts at IIMA Ventures. Sanjay was a key contributor to India Stack, the government APIs supporting interoperable identity, data and payment systems, and led the creation and launch of Google Map Maker. Sanjay holds an M.S. in computer science from UCLA and a Bachelor of Technology in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
