Uche Amaonwu
Uche Amaonwu leads the foundation’s efforts to accelerate the delivery of high-impact, evidence-based interventions that save lives and provide economic opportunity in Nigeria. Working closely with partners, Uche’s team supports efforts through the country’s primary health care system to reduce deaths from vaccine-preventable diseases and improve reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition. The team also invests in improving agriculture, food fortification, financial inclusion, education, and women’s economic opportunity in Nigeria.
Uche joined the foundation in 2014, working first in the Foundation Strategy Office, where he supported the development of multiple foundation programs. In 2017, he relocated to South Africa to lead strategy and operations for the foundation’s integrated program in Africa.
Earlier, Uche spent more than 12 years at Deloitte, where he served as a senior manager in the Strategy & Operations practice. In that role, he led the development and implementation of business transformation strategies for clients across the public and private sectors. He began his career in the banking and insurance sectors in Nigeria.
Uche has a master’s degree in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Nigeria.
