Joe Cerrell
Joe Cerrell oversees the foundation’s government relations, policy advocacy, communications, and partnerships in Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia. He is based in the London office, which he opened in 2010.
Joe and his team work to increase engagement with the foundation’s global health and development priorities and advance progress through partnerships with 16 governments as well as nonstate actors.
Since he joined the foundation in 2001, Joe’s roles have included director of donor government relations and director of global health policy and advocacy. In 2017, he helped to found Goalkeepers, an initiative that brings together leaders, advocates, and innovators from around the world to accelerate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Earlier, Joe served in a variety of senior roles in government, including in the Clinton White House under Vice President Al Gore, and in strategy consulting practices, including APCO Worldwide. He currently serves on the board of directors for the ONE Campaign and Global Citizen in Europe and the Global Institute for Disease Elimination.
Joe has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Southern California.
