David Linnell
David Linnell supports the foundation’s Global Health Division and Communications team with financial leadership and strategic guidance on matters ranging from resource allocation and investment oversight to risk management and long-range planning.
David joined the foundation in 2024 after 13 years in financial leadership roles at Microsoft, most recently as senior finance director of the Azure Revenue Planning & AI organization for the Cloud & AI Division. During his tenure at the company, which also included leadership roles in the Office 365 group, global sales businesses, and other teams, he shaped financial strategy, guided large-scale budgeting and forecasting, supported mergers and acquisitions, and advised senior executives on high-impact growth initiatives.
Earlier in his career, David held analytical roles at Intel Corporation and served more than two years in Mali as a Peace Corps volunteer—an experience that deepened his commitment to global development and cross-cultural collaboration.
David has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Davidson College and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
