We provide this update history to help you understand what changes we have made to our notices and why. However, we do this to improve transparency only, and this update history should not be relied upon in any way. Instead, please read the full updated notices and let us know if you have any questions.

  • Privacy & Cookies Notice: Updates and replaces the previously titled “Privacy Policy” (effective February 23, 2013). Goal is to improve transparency and address specific requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Cybersecurity Law of the People’s Republic of China. Specific updates include:
    • Extending the application of the notices to include mobile apps, online portals, electronic forms, surveys, and interactive exhibits
    • Adding a provision addressing our collection and use of “special categories of data” under the GDPR
    • Clarifying the purposes for which we use personal data and the legal bases on which we are relying under the GDPR
    • Adding a description of when personal data may be shared and with whom
    • Adding description of how we ensure that the legal rights and protections of individuals in the EU travels with any personal data transferred outside the EEA, Switzerland, or Canada
    • Adding a description of how long we store personal data and how to contact us for more information
    • Expanding our description of how individuals can access and control their personal data
    • Adding a description of other rights individuals may have under applicable law
    • Updating our contact information
  • Supplemental Privacy Notice for Event Participants: New. Establishes new supplemental notice applicable to individuals who participate in our events. Goal is to improve transparency and address specific requirements of the GDPR and the Cybersecurity Law of the People’s Republic of China.
  • Supplemental Privacy Notice for Job Applicants: Updates and replaces the previously titled “Supplemental Privacy Policy—Jobs” (effective February 23, 2013) applicable to individuals who participate in our job application process. Goal is to improve transparency and address specific requirements of the GDPR and the Cybersecurity Law of the People’s Republic of China. Specific updates include:
    • Updating the examples of personal data, including sensitive personal data, requested from applicants
    • Adding a description of personal data we may receive from other sources
    • Clarifying the purposes for which we use personal data and the legal bases on which we are relying under the GDPR
    • Adding a description of how we use sensitive personal data
  • Cookies & Similar Technologies: Provides more detail regarding use of cookies and similar technologies. Goal is to improve transparency and better address specific requirements of the GDPR and EU Privacy and Electronic Communications (e-Privacy) Directive.
