Malaria Forum 2007

Leading health experts and policymakers from around the world gathered in Seattle recently to review global progress in the fight against malaria. In a landmark speech, Bill and Melinda Gates called for a global commitment to eradicating the disease, which kills more than one million people—most of them African children—every year.

The Malaria Vaccine Initiative is coordinating the search for a vaccine that can protect children in the developing world from malaria.

Roll Back Malaria Partnership
To provide a coordinated global approach to fighting malaria, the Roll Back Malaria Partnership was launched in 1998 by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank.
