Nicole Bates leads business operations and communications for the Institute for Disease Modeling (IDM). Her team is responsible for documenting IDM’s software tools and services and creating educational curriculum to teach epidemiological modeling. She is responsible for the fiscal planning, contracts management, and coordination of travel and events for the Disease Modeling team.
Before joining IDM in 2011, Nicole spent over ten years developing and improving computer security technologies and user privacy within the government, private, and educational sectors. She conducted extensive work with the UC Berkeley School of Public Health implementing data analysis methods used in Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) nutritional studies, as well as the Goldman School of Public Policy, where she organized financial campaign planning efforts. Nicole has been an advocate for emerging technologies and their application and use to improve the lives of those most in need.
Nicole received her B.A. in Political Economy and French from the University of California, Berkeley.
