Daniel Chin, deputy director, provides oversight for the foundation’s TB programs in India, China, and South Africa, and leads the work with global partners and in product delivery.

From 2007-2015, Daniel was senior program officer for TB in the foundation’s China office and led the HIV program from 2012-2014. In his capacity, he worked with the Chinese Ministry of Health and other partners to develop projects ranging from implementation of new tools to demonstration of comprehensive programs to tackle the TB and HIV problems in China.

From 1999 to 2007, Daniel was with the World Health Organization and served as the WHO country adviser on TB to the Chinese Ministry of Health. He helped to formulate the essential policies, programs, and financing for the current national TB control program in China, and has extensive experience implementing and evaluating large-scale public health programs.

Prior to working in China, Daniel was on the medical school faculty at the University of California, San Francisco, where he received his training in medicine (MD) and pulmonary and critical care medicine. In addition, he also worked in public health programs at state and city levels in the United States.
