USU Researcher's Dengue Vector Control Project - Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
ROCKVILLE, MD -- Nicole Achee, Ph.D., a research assistant professor in the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics, and her team comprised of U.S. and international researchers are undertaking an innovative research project to prevent dengue in Thailand and Peru. Their efforts will be supported by a new $3.5 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF).

DNDi Receives Grant to Develop New Medicines for Neglected Diseases
GENEVA -- The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) has received a $25.7 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to research and develop new medicines to treat human African trypanosomiasis (HAT), also known as sleeping sickness, and visceral leishmaniasis (VL).

Northwestern University Receives Gates Grant – Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University has received a four-year, $4.9 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop and produce affordable diagnostic devices for infectious diseases plaguing developing countries. The grant is part of the foundation’s Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative.
