Insights Teen Parent Program Receives $28,500 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
PORTLAND, Ore. -- Insights Teen Parent Program today announced it has received a $28,500 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the Homeless Teen Parent Program. The program seeks to establish a healthy and safe start for homeless parents and their children through case management services, mental health counseling and linkage to services offered by Insights and other community resources.The mission of Insights Teen Parent Program is to provide a climate of positive options for young parents. The agency provides services to more than 1500 young families in Multnomah County each year.

Foundation Grants to Support Youth Opportunity Center
EVERETT, Wash. -- Center for Career Alternatives (CCA) today announced that it has received a three-year, $210,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to fund the expansion of a program providing education and employment services for disadvantaged youth. A one-time grant of $10,000 from the Verizon Foundation will also help fund the expansion project.

Johns Hopkins Awarded Grant To Explore Novel Interventions To Control HIV-Related Tuberculosis
SEATTLE and BALTIMORE -- The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will contribute $3 million to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for the development of community-based preventive strategies to control tuberculosis (TB) in areas around the world with severe HIV epidemics. The grant will support the Consortium to Respond Effectively to the AIDS-Tuberculosis Epidemic (CREATE), a global initiative to combat the skyrocketing rates of sickness and death caused by these diseases.
