Diane de Ryss, director, Grants & Contracts Services, leads the Investment Workflow and Grants & Contracts Management teams. Together, these teams are responsible for how we make and manage grants and contracts, ensure grants and contracts meet our due diligence requirements, and policies.
Since joining the foundation in 2004, Diane worked for six years as the director of operations for the United States Program (USP), to ensure the smooth operation of USP, the integration of foundation-wide operational priorities, and enhance leadership capabilities. Prior to the foundation, Diane was part of the founding management team for Apex Learning Inc. and led the instructional design team that developed some of the first online courses for high school students. Diane then worked as the VP of School Operations overseeing the staff who worked directly with schools and students, including online teachers, account managers, and customer support team. Early in Diane’s career she was director of Continuing Legal Education for the Washington State Bar, and practiced law as a civil rights attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Diane has a Jurist Doctorate from University of Southern California and two bachelor’s degrees in French and sociology from the University of Washington, including a year of intensive study at Université Lavel in Quebec.
