Dr. Marilyn Woods, advisor to the director, Postsecondary Success, is responsible for working directly with the Postsecondary Success Leadership Team to achieve the goals and objectives of our strategy. She shares responsibility for organizational change management, cross-team communication and collaboration, professional and team development, staffing and talent, internal and external program-level communications, as well as aspects of grantee relations and management of special projects.
Prior to joining the Foundation in 2014, Marilyn served as the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President at the University of Texas Brownsville. Marilyn began her career working with single parents in Paris, Texas, helping them achieve self-sufficiency through education and employment. She’s been a student advisor, an assistant professor of communications, as well as an administrator.
Marilyn holds a PhD in Communications from the University of Oklahoma, with a focus on interpersonal and organizational communications, a Master’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A & M University at Commerce, with an emphasis on Education, Business, and Leadership, a Bachelors of Arts in Communication from the University of North Texas, and an Associate of Arts degree from Paris Junior College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
