Rotavirus Vaccine in Africa

Sudan became the first African country to introduce the rotavirus vaccine with GAVI Alliance funding last July -- only two years after the World Health Organization recommended all countries introduce rotavirus vaccines into their immunization programs.

Now GAVI has approved 12 more African countries for rotavirus vaccine support: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ghana, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, Rwanda and Tanzania.
