Benchmarking for Success: Ensuring U.S. Students Receive a World-Class Education

To keep America competitive in today’s global economy, its students must be prepared not only to compete for jobs with their peers nationwide, but with students from all across the globe. That means it no longer matters how one U.S. state compares to another on a national test, but rather how one state’s students compare to those in other countries. The National Governors Association, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and Achieve, Inc. created this roadmap for states to benchmark their K-12 school systems to those of top-performing nations and build globally-competitive education programs.
