Drive to Prevention: Stopping AIDS on Indian Highways

Truckers in India play an important role in controlling the Indian HIV epidemic. Data indicates that they are more likely to visit sex workers than other men in the country and have higher than average rates of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This video shows how non-governmental organizations (NGOs), such as SEVA, set up drive-to prevention programs along major truck routes to address this problem. At these roadside prevention centers, truckers talk about something usually left unspoken—safe sex—and get condoms to protect themselves.
