Ashodaya: Spreading the Safe Sex Message in India

In India, groups that are at high risk for HIV are proving that the disease cannot be contained by education and condom distribution alone. This video shows how Ashodaya Samithi--a community-based organization supported by Avahan, the foundation’s HIV initiative in India--unites and empowers sex workers. By bringing together this population, Ashodaya has created a sense of community among these women and improved their self-confidence. This, in turn, has been successful in mobilizing sex workers to practice and promote consistent condom use.
