In India, groups that are at high risk for HIV are proving that the disease cannot be contained by education and condom distribution alone. This video shows how Ashodaya Samithi--a community-based organization supported by
Avahan, the foundation’s HIV initiative in India--unites and empowers sex workers. By bringing together this population, Ashodaya has created a sense of community among these women and improved their self-confidence. This, in turn, has been successful in mobilizing sex workers to practice and promote consistent condom use.
