Hillsborough County Schools Awarded Historic Grant to Support Effective Teaching and Raise Student Achievement

TAMPA, Fla. -- Hillsborough County Public Schools is launching a groundbreaking initiative to support effective teaching and raise student achievement with support from an Intensive Partnership grant funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Today in Seattle, the Gates Foundation announced that Hillsborough was awarded the major grant after a competitive application process. Also receiving grant awards are two other school districts (Memphis City Schools and Pittsburgh Public Schools), and a coalition of five public charter school management organizations in Los Angeles called The College-Ready Promise.
