Neil McDonnell 

Dr. Neil McDonnell, chief of staff for the Global Health Program, serves as an advisor to the president of Global Health and oversees projects that originate in the president's office. He facilitates strategy development and implementation as well as strategic collaborations between the foundation and leading global health agencies.

Before joining the foundation, McDonnell was vice president of program management at the biotechnology firm ZymoGenetics, overseeing its portfolio of products in development. Prior to that, McDonnell spent nine years in development and commercial operations at Immunex Corp. He began his career in health care as a clinical pharmacist in hematology/oncology and gynecologic oncology at the University of Washington Medical Center. He has product development experience in a variety of therapeutic areas, including medical and surgical hemostasis, oncology, rheumatology, and asthma.

McDonnell received his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees in pharmacy from the University of Washington. He completed a general residency in hospital pharmacy at the University of Washington and Harborview medical centers.
