Ernest Loevinsohn is the Director of Global Health Policy and Advocacy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Loevinsohn leads the foundation’s efforts to encourage political commitment and effective investment in global health in both donor and developing countries. He also manages a grant program, oversees work to build evidence to support effective policy making, and helps lead the foundation’s work on the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

Prior to joining the foundation in June, 2010, Loevinsohn worked with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). At CIDA, he served as Director General for Global Initiatives, leading a large-scale international assistance program providing aid to more than 70 countries.

He also served as the founding Chair of the Stop TB Partnership, and is currently Vice Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

Loevinsohn holds a B.A. from McGill University and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
