Safe Spaces & HIV Education

In this video, we meet Akkai, a peer educator who identifies as one of India’s kothi class. According to Akkai, members of this class have feminine traits and same-sex relationships. As Akkai explains, same-sex relationships in India are not socially accepted. But a human rights organization called Sangama is creating safe spaces for kothi, where peer educators like Akkai lead workshops and discussions about preventing the spread of HIV.
