Cordell Carter, director, Office of the President and Chief of Staff, supports the strategic and operational work of United States Program.
He served most recently as Vice President, Operations for the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and previously as Vice President, Public Policy for the Business Roundtable. Cordell was selected for the highly competitive Broad Residency in Urban Education where he served Seattle Public Schools as Special Assistant to the Chief Financial/Operations Officer, Director of Business Systems and Director of the School Support Services Division, respectively. In addition to leading district-wide change initiatives, he was part of the 2010 Seattle District/Teachers’ Union negotiations team. Cordell started his career with the IBM Corporation leading change management projects for federal and state government clients and practiced climate change law in Germany with Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau Bankengruppe as a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellow.
Cordell received his B.A. from the University of Washington, M.Sc. from Carnegie Mellon University and J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
