Richard “Dick” Lake, director, Global Security Team, leads the team that oversees onsite and global security.
Prior to joining the foundation in 2013, Dick served for over 36 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, and led and served in multiple deployments around the globe, including Operation Desert Storm, Operation Restore Hope, and several contingency and peace-keeping operations. He also had multiple tours focused on security operations as well as in adult education, serving on the faculty of the Marine Corps Basic School and the Marine Corps University and as the Professor of Naval Science at The Citadel. In recent assignments, Dick effectively advocated for changes and developed and implemented policies across several U.S. government entities, resulting in increased interoperability, common training and reporting standards, and increased efficiency.
Dick graduated with honors from The Citadel with a B.A. in Modern Languages. He also earned an M.S. in Strategic Intelligence from the Defense Intelligence College and an M.A. in Management and Supervision from Central Michigan University.
