Jan joined the foundation in 2007 as a Senior Program Officer for the Tuberculosis program. He focuses on the development of new TB diagnostics, vaccines and drugs. He came from Amgen, where he was Vice President, Global Development Operations, and R&D in Japan. Prior to his 6 years at Amgen, Jan spent 10 years at Johnson and Johnson. In the course of his industry career, he took on different product development, clinical development and medical affairs roles. He is an M.D., trained as a Neurologist and has a Ph.D. in Neuroimmunology. He served for 7 years on the faculty at the University Hospital of Antwerp in his native Belgium before joining industry.
