Academy for College Excellence Receives Grant to Expand Program for Under-prepared Students | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

APTOS, Calif -- The Cabrillo College Foundation (CCF) today announced more than $3.6 million in funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to expand the college’s Academy for College Excellence (formerly the Digital Bridge Academy) for under-prepared college students. The program is designed to bridge the gap in education for young adults who are not typically encouraged to aim for college.

Employers and Higher Education Community Team Up to Support College Completion | Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

These employer-education partnerships are part of the Gates Foundation’s efforts to double the number of low-income students who earn a postsecondary degree or credential by age 26. Reversing the nation’s low college completion rate will take solutions that target low-income student-workers who are most likely to confront the obstacles and financial hardships that prevent them from earning a degree or credential.
