Bruno Moonen, deputy director, for malaria supports the foundation’s strategy and efforts to eradicate malaria.

Before joining the foundation in 2013, Bruno worked for the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) leading their global malaria programs on access to treatment, sustainable financing, and elimination.  Prior to working at CHAI, Bruno worked for Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) mainly in the Horn of Africa, and was a consultant for Epicentre, doing nutritional surveys and program evaluations. He was also at UNICEF, supporting polio vaccination campaigns in DRC, and Roll Back Malaria. In 2005 he became the Malaria Technical Adviser with MERLIN for the Global Fund Malaria Program in Somalia.

Bruno holds a Medical Degree from the University of Leuven, a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the Tropical Institute in Antwerp and an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
