The Gates Foundation Visitor Center welcomes school groups and field trips, and we encourage you to book a free group tour at least 2 weeks in advance. Tours last 60 to 90 minutes and include a guided segment as well as time to explore on your own. Tours are available Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm.
We offer Themed Tours—such as My Community, focusing on everyday opportunities that can empower young people to give back; All Lives Have Equal Value, providing insight into challenges faced by families in different parts of the world, and more. Tours are geared to the ages and grade levels of the participants and include engaging discussions and activities in the galleries.
We also offer activity ideas that teachers can use in the classroom before or after the visit.
We can accommodate as many as 75 visitors at a time. We divide larger groups into smaller groups, each with their own guide. If your group is larger than 75 people, we recommend a format that consists of an orientation talk followed by a self-guided visit.
We offer transportation subsidies of up to $300 for groups from Washington State public middle schools and high schools (and other groups on a case-by-case basis). To apply for a subsidy, indicate your interest on the tour registration form.
The Visitor Center also hosts educator workshops throughout the year. See our upcoming programs page for details.
