What is GPP?
Gates Philanthropy Partners (GPP) is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Its purpose is to facilitate giving by individual donors to help promote progress in global health, development, and U.S. education. GPP provides a streamlined, transparent way to support grantees and programs that are improving the lives of the world's poorest—all while leveraging the Gates Foundation's resources, experience, and partnerships.
All donations to GPP support existing, trusted Gates Foundation grantees and are directed to projects where additional funding can be absorbed quickly and accelerate the work that's already being done. Projects will focus on core themes of the foundation's work, such as eliminating and eradicating diseases, cutting childhood deaths in half, accelerating progress for women and girls, and furthering innovations in U.S. education.
By directing additional resources to fill critical gaps in global health, development, and U.S. education, GPP seeks to accelerate progress on issues of inequity for all people around the world.

How can I give directly to grantees of the Gates Foundation instead of giving to GPP?
The Gates Foundation prefers that donors give directly to grantees, who are at the core of its mission and work. Donors can find information about the foundation's grantees on our Grants Database.
What is the relationship between GPP and the Gates Foundation?
Bill and Melinda Gates created GPP in response to the over $32 million in unsolicited donations received by the Gates Foundation since 2000. A 501(c)(3) public charity, GPP allows everyone to engage on issues of inequity by taking advantage of the deep knowledge of the Gates Foundation.
All of GPP's grant decisions are made in consultation with Gates Foundation leadership. This ensures that donors' gifts are aligned with the charitable purposes of the foundation and guided by foundation program strategies for greater collective impact. All donations support existing, trusted Gates Foundation grantees and are directed to projects where additional funding can be absorbed quickly and accelerate the work that's already being done.
What percentage of a donation goes to program activities?
99.60 percent of donations to GPP flows to existing, trusted grantees of the Gates Foundation to accelerate progress in global health, development, and U.S. education.
An administrative fee of 0.40 percent is applied to donations to GPP. The fee, which is in the mid-range of similar vehicles, pays for costs directly affiliated with GPP's operations.
How is my personal information protected?
GPP does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to other individuals or organizations. GPP uses standard security measures to protect against misuse and alteration of the information under its control. All information is stored in a secure database.
Can I apply for funding from GPP?
