Global Development Grantmaking Areas

The foundation's Global Development Program supports work to reduce poverty and hunger and to expand access to information in the developing world. We fund efforts in three main initiatives: Agricultural Development, Financial Services for the Poor, and Global Libraries.

To make grants, we periodically issue requests for proposals (RFPs) to solve the problems that are central to our funding strategy. We do not accept letters of inquiry (LOI) or proposals that do not address an open RFP. To learn more about our grantmaking strategy and view RFPs now open, please see the below.

Global Development

Who May Apply for Funding

Agricultural Development

Established international organizations working to help smallholder farmers improve crop production and gain access to markets.

Financial Services for the Poor

Established international organizations working to develop loans, savings accounts, insurance, and other financial services for families in the developing world.

Global Libraries

The Global Libraries initiative does not accept letters of inquiry or unsolicited proposals. Click on the link below to learn more about the Global Libraries initiative.

Special Initiatives

We do not accept Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) for these projects. We occasionally publish related requests for proposals (RFPs).
