Thank you to 42 participants who provided feedback at the Global Health Grantee Convening.
Background
We attended the Global Health Grantee Convening in Washington DC from Jan. 29 to Jan. 31.There, we conducted 18 one-on-one interviews to gather impressions of two versions of the Home Page, and to review global site navigation labels. We also posted the latest work on a bulletin board in a break-out area, and were thrilled to have a wide mix of men and women from different countries and grantee organizations provide feedback.
A usability analyst reviewed the data and shared findings with the entire Web team.
What We Learned
The feedback gave us clear direction on home page layout, navigation labels, messaging, and featured content.
Here are a few top findings:
- Home Page Vision Statement
Provide a clear vision statement for the foundation.
- Home Page Top Story
Lead with a single top story and image representing grantee work. Make it clear how to see more stories.
- Audience Paths
Ensure the navigation has clear start points for grantees, grant seekers, journalists, jobseekers, and students.
- How You Can Help
Include a call to action for potential volunteers, and those who would like to work with grantees.
Our Next Steps
We are working on the next iteration of the Home page layout, copy, photography, and multi-media features, and detailing how the map feature works. The follow up study will evaluate usability of the map feature, topics pages (e.g. work done on malaria), and specific information on grants.
Get Involved
Please take our brief survey to tell us who you are and what you think of our Web site. We’re also looking for volunteers to give more feedback in the future, and we’d appreciate your participation. You can sign up at the end of the survey.
