Our headquarters in Seattle, Washington, will move to a new campus in spring 2011. Office buildings, grounds, and a state-of-the-art visitor center will feature environmentally responsible design.
We are building the campus near Seattle Center and the Space Needle—in the heart of the city—at 500 Fifth Avenue North. This new campus will be the foundation’s long-term home.
Local roots strengthen global mission
Seattle Center was the site of the 1962 World's Fair and has since become a regional and international gathering place. It embodies a rich history of public service and benefit—values that are at the core of Bill and Melinda Gates’ philanthropy.
Construction began on July 22, 2008, at a groundbreaking ceremony led by foundation co-chair Melinda French Gates.
